Frequently Asked Questions

*How far in advance do you need the photos and videos?

I request all materials at least one month prior to the event. Even earlier is even better!

*When and how will I receive my completed montage?

At least one week before your event your video will be sent to you digitally. I use a password-protected file sharing website called Smash to send you your completed video. This website may ask you to agree to their terms and accept cookies, but it will not require you to sign up or sign in. You can then download it from the site directly to your own computer, phone or an external harddrive for your own use. The download may take a few minutes. If it's taking too long, I recommend trying again in the evening or early morning. I find this helps with upload/download times. Note: the file on Smash will automatically expire after 30 days.

*Can you incorporate hard copy pictures? I want to use old photos from an album.

Yes! You may either scan pictures yourself and send them to me digitally or you are welcome to send me the pictures and I'll scan them for you for a fee (listed on the Investment tab). Disclaimer: I do not have the equipment to repair and restore old photographs so if they are blurry or scratched these imperfections will be magnified on a large screen. If you are local I am happy to meet you in Knox County to pick up these photos to prevent them getting lost in the mail. If you are not local and need to mail them, the contract you sign will state that I am not liable if they get lost or damaged in the mail.

*Can I send you old VHS tapes to be incorporated into the montage?

Yes! I can accept VHS, VHS-C and DVD. Of course, I can also use video that is already digital that you can send directly to me online. Please know that whatever quality your tape is, it will look the same in the montage.

*Can I pick my own music?

You definitely have say in the mood and tone of the music you want used and are welcome to request some songs, however, due to strict copyright laws I am very limited when it comes to using well-known classics. I do not want to be sued by Beyonce or Taylor Swift and I hope you don't want me to be either. That being said, I pay for services that allow covers and other renditions of some well-known songs. I am happy to look through those catalogs to see if they have your requested songs. I am equally as happy if you leave the music choice up to me. Fees for the music used are included in the montage price.

*When/How do I pay?

Full payment is due up front with the agreement that you will get the materials to me at least one month prior to the event. I accept cash, PayPal, Venmo and all major credit cards. No checks please. Once all agreements have been made and contract signed I will email/text you a link to pay.

*Can I send you more pictures and videos after you've started?

No. Sending me materials in a scattered manner conflicts with the creative process. All materials are due at least one month in advance. At that point I start mapping out the montage and editing based on my vision and your input. Often times pictures are timed up with the melody of the music and sometimes even with the words of the music. Adding something in the middle can mess up the layout of everything I've done after it.

*Will you be at the party to set up the audio/visual equipment?

No. Once I've sent you your completed video, it is up to you to make sure the device you'll be using successfully plays the video. If using a venue, they are usually pretty good at letting you come in to test it out. I highly recommend testing it out well before the party. This allows time for you to find a young whipper snapper who can figure out IT stuff with ease should you have problems. I would hate for you to have paid for this service only to not have it work at the party. Please try it out days in advance. Often times it's as simple as moving the project to a flashdrive or having the right cord to connect your computer to the TV screen.

*Can I post the video on my socials?

Once it's in your hands I have no say over where you post it. Feel free to tag #milestonemontage. The best option, to prevent certain socials from muting songs, is to provide a link on your page to Milestone Montage's YouTube channel where I can post the video in its entirety with your permission.
